In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Trailseeker are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Trailseeker has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The Trailseeker has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Trailseeker has a standard Parking Support Brake that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Trailseeker. But it costs extra on the Macan Electric.

Both the Trailseeker and the Macan Electric have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Subaru’s powertrain warranty covers the Trailseeker 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Macan Electric. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Macan Electric ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 3 times as many Subaru dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Trailseeker’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Subaru vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Subaru above average in initial quality. With 1 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is rated lower.

The Trailseeker’s electric motors produces 20 more horsepower (375 vs. 355) than the Macan Electric’s standard electric motor.

The Trailseeker’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs standard on the Macan Electric are solid, not vented.

For better maneuverability, the Trailseeker’s turning circle is 3 feet tighter than the Macan Electric’s (36.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The Subaru Trailseeker may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 to 850 pounds less than the Porsche Macan Electric.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Trailseeker’s rear seats recline. The Macan Electric’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Trailseeker has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Macan Electric with its rear seat up (31.3 vs. 22.1 cubic feet). The Trailseeker has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Macan Electric with its rear seat folded (74 vs. 50.6 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Trailseeker Limited/Touring’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Trailseeker has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Trailseeker’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Macan Electric.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Trailseeker has a standard rear wiper. A rear wiper costs extra on the Macan Electric.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Trailseeker has standard extendable sun visors. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer extendable visors.
